The Staff
The Rev. Dr. John Palarine
John Palarine graduated from Seabury-Western Seminary with an M.Div and was ordained in 1973. He served inner city parishes in Chicago, IL. and St. Paul, MN. He was Canon for Youth and Education on the Bishop’s staff in Central Florida from 1981 to 1991. He was the Associate Rector of a large church in Clearwater, Florida before coming to Church of Our Saviour as Rector in January of 1996.
He has held several positions in the Diocese of Florida including Standing Committee (and President of the Standing Committee), Deputy to General Convention, several Diocesan committees and served for 14 years as Chair of the Pastoral Care Commission of the Diocese. He is active in Cursillo and many outreach activities in Jacksonville and with a companion parish in Cuba.
Fr. Palarine completed a Doctorate of Ministry in Congregational Development in 2012 from Seabury Western Theological Seminary in Chicago. This program included extensive course work in leadership including an executive leadership program through the Kellogg School for non-profit management (at Northwestern University) and course work based on the Harvard business school leadership resources. Fr. Palarine’s Doctoral Thesis title is: Hospitality of the Heart: A way of life that changes lives and congregations. He has conducted numerous youth ministry, education, community building and leadership conferences and seminars for over 35 years.
His wife, Joanne, is very active in parish ministry, Cursillo, Daughters of the King and women’s ministries. They have two grown children and one grandchild.
